Position Description and Responsibilities:

This is a key leadership position at one of our client’s flagship manufacturing plants located in Kentucky. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this position will require a candidate with a solid leadership skills and Lean experience, preferably with a high mix / high volume product background. Key to success in this role requires a leader that is able to facilitate and drive service, quality, cost and safety leveraging Lean methodologies in a fast paced and “ever changing” environment. The position will require a leader with a strong blend of both strategic and tactical approaches to operational and business objectives, leveraging his/her background and experience to drive results via credibility, influence and leadership by example.

NOTE: This is a growth position and the person that fills the this role must be promotable to the level of General Manager for manufacturing (multi-site) or VP of Manufacturing (overall manufacturing in the future).

This position will be responsible for manufacturing operations, enabling managers to achieve monthly and annual targets in service, quality, cost, safety, and other key performance targets.

This role will lead by example to drive and sustain the cultural and technical changes necessary to make our client’s plant a world class Lean manufacturer.

This role will serve as the leader and catalyst for implementing Lean Enterprise principles, tools, and techniques within the plant.

This position will be responsible for the preparation of annual operating budgets, business plans for both the plant and distribution center.

This position will have responsibility for the management of the people resource through good practice, employee appraisal systems, implementation of compensation and benefit programs, communication systems, and performance management techniques


Position Critical to Quality + Success (CTQ+S): Technical Behavioral Requirements:


BS degree Engineering or Business / MBA or M.S. Advanced Degree preferred

15+ years of increasing responsibility in manufacturing leadership roles

Advanced Training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5s, SMED, and other continuous improvement methodologies

High volume / high mix JIT experience / background

Strong financial acumen - understanding of 4 wall operating costs and P+L measures

Knowledge of Word, Excel, MS Power Point required

  • Manage Lean Six Sigma reporting activities for the organization internally and to Corporate.

  • Develop partnerships with other Lean Six Sigma Leaders across the entire company to share best practices.

  • Develop and manage annual financial benefit and cost budgets.



Position Critical to Quality + Success (CTQ+S): Technical Behavioral Requirements:



  • BS Degree (Engineering / Business Administration / MIS / Science), MBA a plus

  • 10+ years professional work experience with a minimum of 5+ years management experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt in Lean Sigma organization.

  • Minimum of 3 to 6 years experience in Lean Sigma organizations in the areas of manufacturing, distribution, warehousing or other related industry. (Preferred 5+ year experience in warehousing, logistics or distribution industry)

  • Minimum Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Preferred Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

  • Formal Lean training and experience with Value Stream Management tools, kaizen methods and other key Lean tools and methodologies.

  • Demonstrated strengths in project management processes and methodologies including phase-gate reviews and A3 planning and review methods. Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) a plus.

  • MUST be comfortable facilitating Lean Kaizen events, building and implementing regional and site level improvement plans, directly providing hands on leadership of key projects and teams for continuous improvement.

  • Proven ability in strategy development, program implementation, team building, mentoring, planning and budgeting.

  • Progressive, flexible and team oriented person required.

  • Travel in role 50 to 75%
